Eye Examinations Mount Vernon WA

Eye Examination

We know your vision is important to you and it's important to us. When you come for your appointment, we make sure to schedule ample time so you will never feel rushed. Our office provides complete eye care exams for both adults and children. Our comprehensive eye examinations will check your eyes inside and out for any potential eye disorders or diseases. Your visual skills and abilities are carefully evaluated and appropriate treatment is prescribed, whether it's medication, lenses, or vision therapy. We are prepared to handle whatever your eyecare needs are, and will treat them with the latest in diagnostic equipment and are committed to keeping up with eye care technology.

As part of any eye exam, letters (or characters for children that don’t know their letters yet) on a distance chart are identified. This test measures visual acuity, which is written as a fraction such as 20/40. The top number of the fraction is the standard distance at which testing is performed, twenty feet. The bottom number is the smallest letter size read. A person with 20/40 visual acuity would have to get within 20 feet to identify a letter that could be seen clearly at 40 feet in a "normal” eye. Normal distance visual acuity is typically considered 20/20, although many people have 20/15 (better than 20/20) vision.

Using an instrument called a phoropter, an optometrist places a series of lenses in front of the patients eyes to help find the proper prescription to get them seeing clearly.  Yet, a very important aspect of the prescription finding process is to make sure the patient’s visual system is working well with the new power.  There can be a situation where a new prescription can place unneeded strain or stress on the patients eyes.  This is where the training of an optometrist is proven.  Clear comfortable vision is a priority with our doctors.  Once the proper prescription is determined, one of our highly trained opticians will help you decide the best frame and lenses for your needs.

Ocular health is also a top priority for our doctors and staff.  Each patient undergoes a thorough eye health examination using the latest technologies to ensure your eyes remain healthy.  At Mount Vernon Vision Source you can be assured that you and your family will be examined with the utmost care and concern.

We are Mount Vernon's home for eye exams, try us out you wont be disappointed.  Click here to schedule an appointment.
