Contact LensesMany people enjoy the freedom of contact lenses. They are available in nearly any prescription and in many cases, an array of colors. There are certain prescriptions that tend to lend themselves to contact lens prescriptions better than others. Dr. Jones can give you the most accurate prescription and fit, and will help make the best decision as to which contact lenses are right for you. If you have allergies and wear contact lenses, then you know allergies can be particularly annoying. In the past many people had to quit wearing their lenses during the allergy season. Now, new lens materials and allergy medications have made it possible to combat the burning itchy eyes associated with allergies. There are some medications that are available over the counter however, allergies can become severe enough that prescription medicines are required. Wide Selection of Contact LensesThe lenses our office offers are the latest and most advanced in eye health and comfort. Our doctor will prescribe the perfect lens for your needs. We carry contact lenses for: astigmatism, bifocal needs, fashion color lenses, gas permeable (RGP’s) or special orthokeratology lenses to reshape the cornea, which can at times allow clear vision without any corrective lenses. Contact Lenses for Astigmatism (Toric Contacts)Astigmatism is when the front clear part of the eye, the cornea, is not round like a ball. This creates a different refracting (light bending) power in a particular meridian (area) making cylinder (astigmatism correcting lens) lenses necessary to obtain a clear image. When talking about contacts, we have traditionally called these ‘toric’ lenses. Companies are now introducing new lenses with a name change that everyone can understand more easily, Air Optix for Astigmatism and Oasys for Astigmatism to name a few. Astigmatism occurs independent of the existence of myopia (nearsightedness--the eye is too long for the power of the eye) or hyperopia (farsightedness--the eye is too short for the power of the eye). These conditions can usually be corrected through precisely designed lenses (eyeglasses or some forms of contact lenses) that counteracts the underlying corneal unevenness or power. In many cases there will be a contact lens for your level of astigmatism. After an eye health exam and correct lens fitting you can be assured that your contacts will be the best fit of the best comfort for your eyes. Bifocal Contact LensesThese lenses are often called multi focal or progressive lenses and act in the place of bi-focal glasses.
